COTELCO and its Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) is participating in the 27th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference hosted by the Center on Disabilities at California State University-Northridge (CSUN) in San Diego, California from 27 February – 3 March 2012. COTELCO/IDPP Director of Technology Mr. Clyde White Jr. will attend the week-long conference, while Executive Director Dr. Derrick L. Cogburn will attend pre-conference workshops. The conference is a premier event within the international disability community and the largest conference of its kind in the world.
The conference offers a gathering for researchers, practitioners, exhibitors, users, and speakers to share knowledge, new developments, and best practices in the assistive technology field. The event showcases innovative technologies and solutions that continue removing barriers to the full participation of persons with disabilities in educational, workplace, and social settings.
The conference is an invaluable opportunity for COTELCO, and its IDPP project in particular, to network with a vast array of accessibility experts and vendors. The IDPP will meet with Apple, Inc., an opportunity organized by IDPP Program Coordinator for Outreach and Capacity Building Mr. Joni Yulianto, and members of the Blackboard Collaborate Accessibility Task Force, as well as participate in sessions about Blackboard Collaborate's accessibility. With more than 4,800 participants from around the world at last year's conference, the event is also an excellent venue through which to communicate the work of COTELCO and the IDPP, and the Master's of International Affairs in Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIDP) program.
